Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 22, 2026

Our commitment

mBOLDen Change collects as little personal information as we can, uses it only to do our work and never sells it.

This policy covers mboldenchange.org, mboldenaction.org and the forms, emails and donation pages connected to them. mBOLDen Change is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 20-4683289). In this policy, "we" and "us" mean mBOLDen Change and its project mBOLDen Action.

Information we collect

We only collect what you choose to give us, plus basic information about how the site is used.

  • Newsletter sign-up: your name, email address and ZIP code if you provide it.
  • Donations: your name, email, address and gift details. Payments are processed by Zeffy; we never see or store your card or bank details. If you give through another platform that lists us, such as a workplace giving program or donor-advised fund, that platform's privacy policy applies, and we receive only what it shares with us.
  • Online forms: whatever a form asks for, such as your name, organization and contact details. Our forms are built with Jotform. For example, our legal provider form collects only the provider's business information and contact details, and nothing about their clients.
  • Email and phone: whatever you include when you contact us.
  • Site usage: pages visited, the general region you're browsing from, device and browser type. This is collected in aggregate and does not identify you.

The Safety Net Simulator on mboldenaction.org doesn't save anything you enter. We never see or store your answers.

How we use it

We use your information to do the work you signed up for, and nothing else.

  • Send the newsletters, updates and action alerts you asked for
  • Process donations, send receipts and thank you
  • Set up and manage Gateway Fund partnerships with legal providers
  • Answer your questions
  • Understand which pages are useful so we can improve the site
  • Meet our legal and tax obligations as a nonprofit

Cookies and analytics

Our website does not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels, and we don't follow you around the web.

We measure site traffic with Vercel Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without identifying you. Videos load from YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, and only after you press play. Zeffy, Action Network and Jotform may set their own cookies when you use their forms. These are functional cookies that make the forms work, such as remembering what you've typed, not advertising cookies.

Because we don't track visitors across sites, we treat every visit the same way whether or not your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal.

How we share information

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. Ever.

We share it only:

  • With the services listed above, so they can do their job for us
  • With the officials you're writing to, when you sign a letter or petition through one of our advocacy campaigns. Your name and address go with your message so they know you're a constituent.
  • With another nonprofit that takes over our work, if mBOLDen Change ever merges or closes, under the same protections described here
  • When the law requires it, such as a valid subpoena or court order, or to protect someone's safety

We don't collect information about the young people or families our partners serve.

Other websites

Our sites link to other sites, including Zeffy and our social media pages. Once you leave mboldenchange.org or mboldenaction.org, that site's own privacy policy applies.

We're based in the United States, and the information you share with us is stored and processed here.

Your choices

You're in control of what we keep about you.

  • Unsubscribe from our emails at any time with the link at the bottom of every message.
  • See, correct or delete the information we hold about you by emailing info@mboldenchange.org. We'll respond within 30 days.
  • Keep your name off public fundraising pages by choosing to give anonymously when you donate. We still keep a record of your gift for receipts and tax purposes.

California residents: we don't share personal information with other organizations for their own marketing. You can ask us to confirm this at any time by emailing the address above.

Children's privacy

Our website is meant for adults, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through it. If you believe a child has sent us their information, email us and we'll delete it.

Keeping it safe

We limit access to personal information to the people who need it to do the work, and we use services that encrypt data in transit and at rest.

We keep information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected and as our records policy and the law require. For example, we keep donation records for 10 years for tax and audit purposes. After that, we securely delete or destroy them. No system is perfectly secure, but if we ever learn of a breach that affects you, we'll tell you.

Changes and contact

If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date at the top and, for significant changes, note it in our newsletter.
